It’s exciting to be taking on the role of Interim President of Northwest Community College. I began in this role on March 20, 2014 and I’ve already been dedicating much of my time to meeting with people across our nine campuses to see first hand the exciting direction Northwest Community College is going.
2014-15 is shaping up to be an exciting year. In February, our Board of Governors approved a balanced budget for the 2014-15 year. This is a big step forward as many people worked hard over the last few years to bring the college out of a deficit situation. We continue to work closely with the Ministry of Advanced Education to ensure we have a sound fiscal vision moving forward.
There’s been a lot to celebrate over the last year and many exciting changes and forward movement coming in the future. For example Northwest Community College received a $3 million investment in 2012-13 for our state of the art trades training equipment and in Houston we’ve seen the exciting transition to a Community Learning Centre that welcomes everyone through its doors.
As we conduct our search for Northwest Community College’s next President, I’ll be working closely with our support staff, faculty and administrative team in the growth I anticipate the College to see in the coming years. This is a time of opportunity and innovation for Northwest Community College and together we will move forward toward a bright future for our communities and our students.
If you see me on campus or in the community, please don’t hesitate to stop and say hello – your thoughts and feedback are always welcome.
