B.C. Associated Boards of Health, Dr. Ken Benson Memorial BursariesCAC Scholarship Program

This bursary was established by The Associated Boards of Health with funds which they had raised prior to their dissolution in 1997.  The bursary is named in honour of Dr. Ken Benson who, during a long career in public health in British Columbia, was a Medical Officer of Health, an Associate Deputy Minister and public health consultant to the Associated Boards of Health of British Columbia.

The funds are managed by the Vancouver Foundation and the Bursary funds will be released to a successful applicant(s) annually on the recommendation of the Health Officers’ Council.  The Health Officers’ Council is comprised of the Medical Health Officers and public health physicians of British Columbia.

BCAC Scholarship Program

The BC Arts Council (BCAC) provides scholarship funding of up to $6,000 per individual per year to outstanding British Columbia art students. B.C. residents accepted for full-time studies and pursuing a fine arts diploma or degree at a recognized college, university, institution or academy in any country  in the world can apply. The application deadline is April 30, 2014.

The Annual BC Creative Achievement Awards for First Nations' Art celebrate artistic excellence in traditional, contemporary or media art.

BCGEU-CLBC scholarship fund benefiting adults with developmental disabilities

The Community Living BC (CLBC) – BC Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) Scholarship is a $100,000 fund to benefit adults with developmental disabilities being served by CLBC across the province. The fund was established as part of CLBC and BCGEU’s collective agreement which was ratified last year.

Chartered Accountants Education Foundation of BC

Students can apply to the CA Education Foundation for one of seven (7) - $1000 tuition awards. Students must be in their final year of their diploma or degree program, include a letter indicating intention to become a CA, and submit an application form to the CA Education Foundation. Students will receive their award upon registering with CASB or the ACIA program.

Compass Mortgage Group Scholarship

Eligibility:

1. Be between the ages of 17 and 24 on December 30th, 2014
2. Submit answers to the essay question, which can be found on the application page, prior to the December 30th, 2014 deadline.
3. Have at least one full year of post secondary studies remaining at the time of the award
4. Have a GPA of 2.75 or greater.
5. Be a resident of Canada or the United States

Explore & Destination Clic

A bursary covering room, board and tuition to enable students who have completed at least Grade 11 to enroll in five-week immersion course in French. The Destination Clic Program is for Grade 8 & 9 Francophone students who may apply to the three-week Destination Clic Program (as defined under Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms).

French Teachers' Bursary

Bursaries to assist Core French, Immersion or Francophone Program teachers to attend credit and non-credit courses to improve their French academic and linguistic qualifications. The bursary covers tuition, transportation and living expenses for immersion courses and tuition for courses taken for credit only to a maximum amount for both. (Courses must be offered in French in Canada.)

French Teachers' In Training Bursary

A bursary to encourage students to register in a one-year full-time programme, offered in French, by the Faculty of Education of a BC post-secondary institution, where the objective is to train teachers specializing in French as a first language (francophone) or French as a second language (Core French, Immersion or Francophone Program teachers).

Eligibility:

1. Be currently attending or planning on attending a post-secondary institution in Canada or the US by no later than the Fall of 2014.

Irving Fox Memorial Scholarship for Natural Resources Research and Management

Each year, the Bulkley Valley Research Centre awards between $750 and $1000 to a student from northwestern British Columbia or a student enrolled in or entering studies in natural resources research and/or management in northwestern British Columbia through the Irving Fox Memorial Scholarship. Isabel Loucks Foster Public Health Bursary Fund

LM Scholarship Program

Scholarship Value: $500

Eligibility:

1. Currently enrolled or expecting to be enrolled in a degree program (2 years of length or greater) by September.
2. A student must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit an answer to the essay question prior to the submission deadline.
3. A student must be a US resident or a Canadian resident and must also attend a school in Canada or the US.

Lotus Light Charity Scholarship

Any Canadian student who is 17 years or older and will be beginning or continuing their studies at a recognized post-secondary educational institution on a full-time basis may be eligible to receive the Lotus Light Charity Scholarship to assist in those studies. Applicants will be assessed on scholastic record and community volunteer involvement.

Maple Leaf Dentistry Scholarship

Eligibility:

1. To be eligible a student must be attending school at the undergraduate level in the fall of 2014 and can be enrolled in any year of their undergraduate program. High School seniors who will graduate in 2014 are considered eligible. If you are attending a trades and/or technical school, the program must be at least 2 years in length or longer.
2. A student must have done at least 100 hrs of (verifiable) volunteer work over the last 2 years.
3. Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in his/her last academic year.
4. A student must be a resident of the United States or Canada.

MCO Scholarship

Scholarship Value: $500

Eligibility:

1. Be attending college or university no later than December of 2014.
2. Be attending college or university on a full-time basis by December of 2014.

NEADS National Student Awards Program

The NEADS National Student Awards Program is offered to encourage full access to post-secondary education for persons with disabilities, who often have greater barriers to participation in higher education, as well as extra costs because of their disabilities.

Nurses Education Bursary

This program provides up to $1 million in bursary funding, awarded each year to qualified nursing applicants who demonstrate the greatest financial need.

Odyssey

This program offers full-time employment (for people with at least one year of postsecondary education) as assistants in second language classrooms.

Residential Schools Settlement - (CEP) Personal Credits

The Indian Residential Schools Settlement Agreement stipulates that once all Common Experience Payments (CEP) have been made, if more than $40 million remains in the Trust Fund, the funds are to be made available to CEP Recipients, upon application, in the form of non-cash Personal Credits of up to $3,000 each for educational purposes.

Stewardship Community Bursary - Pacific Salmon Foundation

PSF annually awards two non-repayable bursaries of $2000 each to B.C. students who are active volunteers in the aquatic stewardship community, demonstrate financial need and are registered in a full-time (minimum 12 credit hours) in at least the second year of an education or training program that supports their goal of a career in salmon conservation.
