The government of BC is committed to providing British Columbians access to education and training programs that deliver work skills for the natural resource industries. As part of this commitment the government announced in April 2013 the creation of a provincial Centre of Training Excellence in Mining (CTEM).
The Centre’s key objectives are:
- to support the province’s mine training providers in meeting industry needs; and
- to ensure students have access to targeted training that will provide them with strong, marketable skills for the mineral industry.
When fully operational, the Centre will provide BC's post-secondary education system with a central point of contact dedicated to the development and sharing of skills and expertise supporting excellence in training for the mining sector of the province. The Centre will not deliver its own training programs; rather it will provide support and advice to those who do.
